Top 5 Emails We love: The Holiday Edition

Our greatest Christmas email campaigns for the winter season

“It’s the most delightful time of the year!” we’d ordinarily remark, but 2020 has proven to be in its own league of need for Christmas happiness. Even if your winter holidays look a bit different this year, your subscribers and customers are still waiting for you in their inboxes, and it couldn’t hurt to spread a little extra Christmas cheer.

1. Jeni’s

Subject line: Please accept our invitation to present… NEW festive tastes!

Nothing beats a festive dessert to start off the season, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is always on hand to help. First and first, we must applaud the taste names—Sugar Plum! Chocolate from a campfire! The accompanying visuals, joyful typography, and charming catalog design have already made our heart swell two sizes. One thing is certain: ice cream is a treat for all seasons, and Jeni’s remains a formidable opponent in the Christmas marketing games. And the most crucial detail? They provide countrywide shipping. #Giftidea

2. Magnolia Home

Subject line: Keep it simple and lovely

We know Chip and Joanna can renovate fixer-upper homes, but this email from Magnolia Home reveals that their emails are as impressive.

This email encapsulates all of the emotive sensations of the holidays and is on-brand with the rest of their business—welcoming warmth into a lovely home—from the comfortable home vibes to the practical greenery vase inspiration. They’ve thought about every design component in this email, from white space to flora themes, and it shows. Not to mention that it is holiday-agnostic, bringing inspiration throughout the season!

3. Rifle Paper Co.

Subject line: The Gift Guide is finally here!

Rifle Paper Co., known for infusing a touch of floral whimsy to paper products and beyond, is always a firm we turn to for design inspiration, and they have yet to disappoint us this holiday season. While their items stand out on their own as gift ideas, this Christmas tree collage takes it to the next level. We love the chalk accents, warm green tones, and how this email connects all of their items in a Christmas theme without them all needing to be red or green. Congratulations, Rifle Paper Co.!

4. Postmates

Subject line: Buy One Get More for Cuffing Season

Okay, this is a solid start right away, not only because I enjoy a good late-night Pad Thai delivery, but also because they call out what everyone is thinking about but not saying over the holidays: cuffing season.

The winter holidays bring a flood of engagements, and Postmates is a genius at identifying their demographic and connecting it to their company. They hear you, disgruntled singles and couples? Take advantage of the discount code together. Everyone benefits.

5. Warby Parker

Subject line: You may have noticed

This email deviates from the conventional Christmas color scheme of red and green, but I’m not complaining. Warby Parker has added a new valuable layer to its already-loved specs: giftable artwork, thanks to a partnership with Chilean painter Camilo Huinca. While the cooperation would have been interesting regardless, this email links together pieces of Huinca’s artwork to produce a unique present idea and email.
